Target Audience For E4
E4 is a very popular chanel. It has numerous programs of different genres, ranging from Drama to Comedy. because of its differenr types of programmes it gives the chanel a wider audience and attracts different types of people.
I would personally say that E4 is aimed at 13 - 25 year olds, maybe 30 year olds at a stretch. the reason i believe this is because of the programmes that are shown. Some of the programmes on E4 that are shown are: Scrubs, The inbetweeners and the Big Bang Theory. All of these shows are aimed at younger generations rather than older generations they are all comedies and are all relateable to the younger generations which is what would attract people to watch the show. its because of this that i believe theTarget Audience is 13 - 25 year olds.
After doing some research, it turns out that E4's target audience is around 13 - 30 year olds.
Something that makes E4 instantly recognisable is the chanels Idents. The Idents of E4 are always unique and very eye catching which i think contributes to the chanels target audience. if the chanel was aimed at children the idents would contain a lot of colour and animation whereas the actual E4 idents mainly contain the colour purple which contributes to the recognition of the E4 Idents because they all feature colour.
Like every chanel E4 has competition. BBC3 is a very similar chanel to E4 and the reason for this is because they both play similar material resulting in competition because a person who enjoys a show on E4 will most likely enjoy a show on BBC3, if they were both aired at the same time, this person would have to decide which show he/she likes better and one of the channels would loose a viewer.
